Arosa - is not only a hiking paradise

If there was indeed such as place as the “praised land of the wanderer,” then it would be the region around Arosa. But the hiking paradise in Graubünden has a lot more to offer in terms of sport and leisure activities - from mountain biking to swimming and water sports, to golf and much more.

We have briefly summarized an overview of the numerous sport offerings in alphabetical order for you below. Hockey & and ice skating

Do you want to get on the ice during your summer vacation in Arosa - naturally only for sport? No problem. In the indoor ice rink on the Obersee you can put on the skates for hockey or skating - in the summer it is even free of charge with the Arosa Card. You do not even need to bring along the required equipment; it can also be rented.


Fishing

If you are looking for tranquility and relaxation without major exertion perhaps a day at the water’s edge or on the water (in a boat) fishing is just the thing for you. The fishing season on the Obersee and Untersee is from the beginning of June to the middle of September. We can tell you the days on which fishing is allowed. Fishing permits are available from the Arosa Tourist Office.


Outdoor swimming pool

Arosa’s picturesque Untersee lakeside swimming pool offers a lot of play, fun and leisure possibilities - with the Arosa Card there is no charge. A swimming pool, a 50 meter long slide, two diving boards (1 meter and 3-meter), a solar wading pool with water feature figures for children, sunbathing decks, sunbathing lawn , sandy beach, table tennis, boccia, beach volleyball, children’s play area await small swimming guests and adult swimming guests. And if the movement in the water and in the fresh air makes you hungry and thirsty - there is nothing like heading for the garden restaurant.


Golf

The 18-hole golf course in Arosa is a challenge for every golfer at approximately 1800 meters above sea level - it is one of the highest in Europe. Golf has a long tradition here. In 1945 a 9-hole golf course was opened in Arosa. This was expanded to the demanding par-65 course of today in 2001. Golf enthusiasts find everything the heart desires: 18 beautiful fairways, driving range, putting and chipping areas, a pro shop and the fine Golfhuus Restaurant. Hot-air balloon rides

Lifting off from the ground, gliding through the air, virtually without a sound and admiring Arosa amidst its magnificent Alpine landscape with a bird’s eye view - a dream that can become a reality; the prerequisite is a little courage on your part. For guests who are not afraid of heights and who would like to experience an adventure, we organize hot-air balloon trips via the Arosa Balloon Club (website www.ballonwoche.ch).


Jogging

Whether you take it easy on level surfaces for the most part or go for more athletic uphill and downhill routes: All around Arosa you will find a wide network of paths, on which you can jog to your heart’s desire. And for short breaks there are many benches and rest stations on your route.


Artificial grass sports facility - Obersee

You can pursue different types of sports on the 50 meter wide 100 meter long artificial grass sports facility on the Obersee. It is suitable for field hockey, soccer, volleyball, fistball, basketball, floorball and other ball games. And if you are alone you will quickly find others who share your interest.


Mountain bike

If you want to get high on two wheels Arosa is a veritable paradise - regardless of whether you want to take it easy, or if you are a pro-biker or a genuine downhiller. Mountain bikers can go on many tours in the area with different levels of difficulty. Thanks to its unique location Arosa offers a extensive tour area that is connected to different regions with a total of more than 700 km and a total difference in altitude of almost 20,000 meters. Free bike transport with the Hörnli Gondola is a special service.


Nordic walking

Particularly recommended by physicians Nordic walking has developed into a trend sport and it can be pursued by both young and old. In addition to the health aspect, in Arosa with the most extensive network of walking and hiking trails in Switzerland, there is also the incredible experience of the unique landscape. Pedal boats - aqua bikes - rowboats

Boating on the Obersee is always nice change for Arosa vacationers. Rowboats, paddle boats, and aqua bikes can be taken out here free of charge with the Arosa Card. This is great fun, and not just for children.


Rope park

Another town should just try to imitate what Arosa has to offer in this regard: The rope park is the only one its kind in Switzerland that is part of the all-inclusive offering and thus can be climbed by every overnight guest (who is not afraid of heights) free of charge whenever and as often as he or she wants. The facility offers six parcours right in the middle of the natural stand of trees on the Waldfest meadow. Climbing parks are extremely popular these days. Consequently Arosa has also considered the younger guests (4 to 9 years old) and has created a separate parcours just for them with a contiguous fallback system.


Riding scooters

Riding on scooter (scooters with larger wheels) is a lot of fun for the whole family. Modern and well-equipped scooters with front and rear brakes and a suspension fork can be rented at the Arosa railway station. Those who prefer things to be entirely comfortable take a scooter with light motor support.


Vita-Parcours

The Vita-Parcours is an outdoor fitness center. At a total of 15 stations you can get your body in shape on the trimming path. The Vita-Parcours begins and ends with the squirrel path in the forest. This is where children can feed the cute little gnawers and also learn a lot about them on 10 illustrated panels.


Hiking & mountain climbing

Hiking in Arosa will also be your pleasure: Approximately 200 kilometers of groomed walking and hiking trails as well as numerous alpine routes for mountain climbers await you. The paths take you through scenic forests, crystal clear alpine lakes, and to 2900 meter summits - past diverse flora - more than 900 different types of blossoming plants, 30 ferns, 250 types of moss and mushrooms. On the trail there are many inviting rest benches and rest stations for picnicking and resting. In addition the Arosa Tourist Office maintains a dozen fire pits for barbecuing in the hiking area.
